Vince. Please check in at our admissions desk with you military or veteran ID upon entry to receive this free admission. 

The Museum is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, plus the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Mardi Gras, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. Blue Star Museums is a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, 
the Department of Defense, and participating museums across America. For a list of participating 
museums, visit arts.gov/bluestarmuseums. The free admission program is available for those currently serving in the United States Military—Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard as well as members of the Reserves, National Guard, U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps—and up to five family members. Qualified members must show a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), DD Form 1173 ID card (dependent ID), or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card for entrance into a participating Blue Star Museum.

Christmas Express: A Journey Through Time – A Sweet Adelines Holiday Show

Step aboard the Christmas Express: A Journey Through Time, an enchanting holiday show presented by the Baton Rouge Chorus of Sweet Adelines, taking place Saturday, December 20 at 6:00 PM at the Irene W. Pennington Planetarium at LASM. 

The Baton Rouge Chorus of Sweet Adelines, Int'l is an award-winning women’s a cappella chorus dedicated to preserving and performing barbershop harmony through dynamic, four-part vocal arrangements and engaging, high-energy performances.

This one-of-a-kind event blends timeless holiday music with immersive, custom-designed visual projections on the Irene W. Pennington Planetarium dome. Following the performance, guests are invited to a festive reception at 7:00 PM featuring seasonal drinks and sweet treats. 

Join us for this heartwarming celebration of music, memories, and holiday magic—part of LASM’s Coca-Cola Christmas event series.

Teddy Bear Tea

You’re Invited to LASM’s Teddy Bear Tea!

Bring your favorite stuffed friend and join us for one of LASM’s most beloved holiday traditions—Teddy Bear Tea! On Saturday, December 6 at 2 PM, families are invited to a festive, heartwarming tea party perfect for children and their cuddly companions.

This year, we’re proud to partner with Banten House Tea, who will provide a beautiful selection of teas and seasonal treats that guests of all ages will enjoy.

The event will feature:

  • A delicious holiday tea service
  • Festive music and décor
  • A special meet-and-greet with the Coca-Cola Polar Bear
  • Photo opportunities, crafts, and more

Holiday Painting Workshop with Artist Beth Welch

Kick off your holiday celebrations with creativity at Studio Saturday: Merry Masterpieces, a festive painting session led by local artist Beth Welch. Perfect for all skill levels, this guided workshop invites guests to choose from a selection of holiday-themed artworks and create their own masterpiece to take home—ideal for gifting or seasonal décor.

This event is part of Coca-Cola Christmas: A Month of Magic at LASM, a series of joyful holiday experiences sponsored by the Baton Rouge Coca-Cola Bottling Company.

This hands-on experience includes:

  • Step-by-step instruction from artist Beth Welch
  • A variety of artworks to choose from
  • All painting supplies provided
  • A completed painting to take home

All Aboard for The Polar Express in the Irene W. Pennington Planetarium!

Returning this year by popular demand, The Polar Express rolls back into LASM for a magical holiday screening on Saturday, December 13 at 12 PM. Celebrate the season and the 100th anniversary of the historic railroad depot that houses the museum by experiencing this beloved holiday classic like never before—on the spectacular, immersive screen of the Irene W. Pennington Planetarium.

Before or after the film, guests can enjoy hot cocoa in the Bert S. Turner Family Atrium and explore LASM’s galleries. Plus, each guest can take home a complimentary sleigh bell, just like the one featured in the film, available at the Museum Store while supplies last.

Sensory Second Sunday with W3 Bee-Long

The Louisiana Art & Science Museum (LASM), in partnership with nonprofit W3 Bee-Long, invites the public to Sensory Sunday on November 9, 2025, from 3:00–5:00 p.m., featuring a special workshop: Colors That Speak (Colores que Hablan), led by Iveth Esmahan, Founder of W3 Bee-Long.

Inspired by colonial portrait artist José Francisco Xavier de Salazar y Mendoza, the sensory-friendly workshop blends color, language, and movement in an inclusive, interactive art experience for all ages and abilities.

As a Sensory Inclusive Certified venue, LASM provides trained staff, sensory bags, and regulation spaces to support neurodivergent guests. For this event:

  • Workshop (Classroom 2): 3:30–4:30 p.m.

  • Sensory Regulation Room (Classroom 1): Open 3:00–5:00 p.m.

Included with general admission, Sensory Sunday is held monthly to promote creativity, self-expression, and belonging for everyone.
