Studio Saturday: Reflections - The Art of George Rodrigue

Join the Louisiana Art & Science Museum for our Studio Saturday series, held every third Saturday of the month! Join Beth Welch from 10:00 AM–12:30 PM for a Studio Saturday inspired by Reflections: The Art of George Rodrigue. We’ll begin with a guided tour of the exhibition before diving into the creative process. Participants of all ages will explore Rodrigue’s iconic Blue Dog, discussing characters, symbols, and storytelling in art while discovering how artists find inspiration in the world around them.

What makes this class special? Send us a photo of your own pet ahead of the class and transform your trusty companion into a one-of-a-kind Blue Dog–style masterpiece! Participants will create their own original Blue Dog (or cat) painting inspired by their furry friend. All supplies are included.

This class is open to students of all ages. In addition to the workshop, the fee includes all-day admission to the museum and planetarium shows.

This hands-on experience includes:

• Step-by-step instruction from artist Beth Welch
• An introduction to acrylic painting
• All painting supplies provided
• A completed Blue Dog painting to take home
